CAE continues to work with disabled students to identify support for flexibility in the courses, which may include accommodations allowing for the student to attend classes in a remote manner. In a similar manner to other flexibility accommodations (e.g., absences, extensions on assignments), CAE engages in an extensively interactive process, evaluating the totality of the information gathered to determine whether remote access is a reasonable and appropriate accommodation. Specifically, determining whether a remote access accommodation is reasonable and appropriate requires two steps:
- CAE verifies that the student is eligible for remote access as an accommodation based on their disability and information provided to the office, and
- CAE verifies with the student's faculty that their courses will allow for remote access without compromising the core elements of the course required to complete it.
